The results of waste management surveys conducted during February\/March in the Carwoola\/Primrose Valley and Sutton East areas will be presented to Council at its April General Meeting. The following is a summary of the results.<\/p>\n

Survey Comments<\/h4>\n

The 60% return rate on a survey population of 349 yields a result with a confidence level of 95% and an accuracy of \u00b1 5%. The ultimate result is thus 58.3% \u00b1 5% against the introduction of a household waste collection service.<\/p>\n

Many (74.9%) of the survey forms included comments, most of which qualified residents\u2019 objections to the introduction of a council collection service, and many of which made reference to the respondent\u2019s satisfaction with the existing commercial service operating in the area.<\/p>\n

There is nonetheless a high level of satisfaction (64.9% Satisfied or Very Satisfied, 13.2% Dissatisfied or Very Dissatisfied) with the recycling service that was introduced in 2012. Many respondents who were dissatisfied with the recycling service claimed not to use it.<\/p>\n

The 44.5% return rate on a survey population of 146 yields a result with a confidence level of 95% and an accuracy of \u00b1 9%. The ultimate result is thus 60.0% \u00b1 9% in favour of the introduction of a household waste collection service.<\/p>\n

A little more than one third of the responses (38.5%) included comments, most of which qualified residents\u2019 objections to the introduction of a council collection service. Many comments of both respondents in favour and opposed to a council collection service also made reference to the respondent\u2019s satisfaction with the existing commercial service operating in the area.<\/p>\n

There is a high level of satisfaction (69.2% Satisfied or Very Satisfied, 13.8% Dissatisfied or Very Dissatisfied) with the recycling service that was introduced in 2012.<\/p>\n
