Business Zones
Note that as of 1 Dec 2021, new Employment Zones E1 – E5 have been added to the Standard Instrument. As a result, former Environment Protection Zones E1 – E4 have been replaced by Conservation Zones C1 – C4, and existing Business and Industriel Zones, which will remain in the Standard Instrument for the time being, will be migrated to appropriate Employment Zones.
B2 Local Centre
- Objectives of zone
- To provide a range of retail, business, entertainment and community uses that serve the needs of people who live in, work in and visit the local area.
- To encourage employment opportunities in accessible locations.
- To maximise public transport patronage and encourage walking and cycling.
To ensure that new development has regard to the character and amenity of the locality.
To strengthen the viability of Palerang’s existing business centres as places for investment, employment and cultural activity.
To support business development by way of the provision of parking and other civic facilities.

- To provide a mixture of compatible land uses.
- To integrate suitable business, office, residential, retail and other development in accessible locations so as to maximise public transport patronage and encourage walking and cycling.
To ensure that new development has regard to the character and amenity of the locality.
To strengthen the viability of Palerang’s existing business centres as places for investment, employment and cultural activity.
To support business development by way of the provision of parking and other civic facilities.
